It takes me an average 93 miles (one way) to get to work. According to my gas gauge thats a 1/4 tank each trip, half a tank in one day. Well check this out. Everytime I kept filling my tank up again it would fill up at 12 gallons. So yesterday as I left work I was on E so I said S"crew it!" I'll just drive till I run out of gas. I was thinking I still had 6.5 gallons left in the tank if the book is accurate. Sure enought I got back home (still reading E) and I filled up. This time I had filled up with 16.5 gallons. I never reset my ODO and it read (from zero and the last time I filled up) 432 miles!!!! Thats 26 miles per gallon on the freeway doing 70 - 75 mph!!! My car runs strong so I don't belive I am running lean. I guess it pays to just change everything you can think of. I am just worried about the gas gauge, I had the issue before and I thought I quashed it but with yesterdays recent discovery I guess not. If any of you guys are having any bad gas mileage here is a list of what I had done to my car to try and fix it: 3 Months Ago: Air Filters Fuel Filter Fuel Dampners Spark plugs PCV & corresponding hoses O2 Sensors A month or Two Ago: Timing Belt Timing tensioner Timing Pullies x 3 Adjusted Timing Water Pump (doesn't really apply) Thermostat (doesn't really apply) ECU and Engine Temp Sensors Lowered Idle a few hundred more Tightened ALL fuel lines Used gunk engine flush Cleaned throttle bodies. Hope any of you guys will benefit from this. I know how it feels to get bad gas mileage. And if none of the aforementioned above actually fixed my issue then I have no clue what did. Take care and good luck! James-Lee
